Cock O’Barton

Type: New Build
Value: £400K
Status: Completed

Introduction

The Cock O’Barton, a small chain of restaurants, wanted to set up an accommodation building to complement its site in the quaint Cheshire village of Barnton.

Challenge

Due to an increasing number of wedding events at the Barnton restaurant, D2 Architects was tasked with delivering a traditional Cheshire-style building with a slate roof, innovative brickwork, 14 en suite bedrooms and contemporary interior design. All of this had to be achieved while the restaurant was still open, meaning work could not disrupt day-to-day operations.

As the Cock O’ Barton is a listed building, this project also required liaising closely with conservation officers to achieve an appropriate and consistent style.

Solution

Working alongside Phil Angus Developments, we ensured an efficient and well-organised site where work could take place quickly and efficiently, with minimal disruption. Thanks to meticulous planning, the agreed time frame and £400K budget were at the apex of all our decision making and were adhered to throughout.

Conclusion

Six months later, the stylish and functional project was completed on time and within budget.

On the interior, the building is luxurious and comfortable, yet the exterior is low-key enough not to detract from the restaurant and its picturesque surroundings. The project encapsulated the D2 ethos in that, working closely with our client, we delivered a complementary building that was ideal for its purpose and respecting of its environment.
