Additional care apartments planned for Wallasey

A new ‘extra care’ housing scheme that will include 53 individual apartments is coming to Wallasey’s Greenheys Road.

Planning approval has now been secured for the Wirral development as part of a joint application submitted alongside NHS Property Services. The project, which represents an £8.5 million investment, combines Magenta Living’s social housing expertise with Anwyl Partnerships’ specialist knowledge of residential building and land developments.

Managing Director at Anwyl Partnerships, Tom Anwyl, commented:

“We’ve worked collaboratively with the team at Magenta Living from the outset to identify the real requirements for the new facility, ensuring it will be placed as a vibrant addition to the area whilst enhancing the wider community long into the future.”

The housing scheme will provide affordable and high-quality extra care residences for the borough, filling the present gap. The recent application was awarded a unanimous vote in favour from Wirral Council and will make use of the current brownfield site, occupied presently by two building formerly used by the NHS.

Professional architects in the Wirral can assist developers, drawing up plans and concept designs that offer planners a visual aid when they are considering whether a scheme should be granted approval or not.

Once underway, the new development is set to reinvigorate the location, entirely replacing the existing buildings that are now destined for demolition. In their place, new units will be constructed, containing a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments, landscaped communal areas and a dedicated car park.

Work on the project is set to start later this year.
