Construction begins on new Stoke-on-Trent housing estate

Building work has now started on the new housing estate dubbed Hollington Grange, which is located off of Biddulph Road in Stoke-on-Trent’s Fegg Hayes.

After it received full planning approval from Stoke-on-Trent City Council, property development firm Keepmoat Homes moved onto what was once the Chatterley Whitfield Sports Ground to begin building 157 new properties. The new family-sized homes will be a mix of both three and four-bedroom residences.

While a local community group had raised objections to the development, Stoke-on-Trent’s council planners rejected its concerns in 2020 last year. Professional architects in Chester, Stoke-on-Trent and other cities in Northern England can sometimes assist property developers with planning applications submitted to local councils, facilitating a smoother passage for projects. Acting as agents on behalf of developers, architects can answer objections swiftly and adapt plans to better suit council requirements.

As part of the approval awarded to the housing scheme, the council has added the stipulation that Keepmoat Homes must make a £32,224 contribution towards healthcare services in the local area and pay a further £92,244 for extra places in schools based nearby.

According to the Stoke Sentinel, a spokesperson from the property development firm commented on the design of Hollington Grange:

“This carefully chosen location – with everything you need close to home – offers everything you need for modern, connected living.”

It is now possible for prospective buyers to register an interest in the new properties based on the estate, but prices for the homes under construction have not been officially released yet.
