Eco friendly Bristol apartment block gets green light

Submitted plans for an apartment block with three storeys and multiple eco conscious features have now been awarded approval from local council planners.

The incredibly modern building will be constructed with an exterior fashioned from bronze zinc combined with both stone and brickwork, however, it is the design elements inside that have convinced local planners of its merits. Energy efficient LED lighting and underfloor heating systems will be fitted, and solar panels and air source heat pumps will provide a low carbon alternative to a gas boiler. Having future proofed the apartments in line with the UK government’s goals, green transportation needs are well-catered for, with five charging points for electric vehicles (EVs) offered to residents, along with storage space for push bikes.

In the last few years, architects in Chester, Bristol and other UK cities are increasingly designing new properties with multiple sustainable features, in line with the government’s aim to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

While green-minded in construction, the new property plans present future tenants with luxury opportunities. The whole of the third floor will belong to a single apartment, complete with a terrace garden and grand views. Considerate designs ensure that residents and their neighbours will enjoy adequate privacy, with all of the apartment’s lounges planned to face onto Bristol Road.

Planners at South Gloucestershire Council voted unanimously in favour of the new building. Some councillors called the project’s plans “clever”, while other stated they were “brilliant” and “elegant”.
