Hundreds of homes to be built on Wirral biscuit company site

The former site of the Burtons Biscuit Company factory is to be used to provide the area with up to 300 new houses.

After consulting with the local community during November, the developers have decided to build a range of different homes on the Moreton plot. The plan is to build two to five bedroom properties in several configurations, including terraced properties, detached and semi-detached homes and apartments.

There will be a children’s play area as well as open public space. In addition, the weir at the front of the site will be retained. Both existing and new residents will have full access to all of these facilities. It is planned for the homes to be easily accessible for pedestrians and cyclists.

Simon Browne, who is the chief operating officer at Burton’s, explained the importance of the scheme to a reporter from the Wirral Globe. He said:

“We’ve worked long and hard on these plans and we feel that the scheme now submitted to Wirral Council will be of real benefit to the community in Moreton.”

The development is just one example of the many that Wirral architects are currently working on. They are currently in the process of providing the local community with the 10,500 additional homes identified in the Unitary Development Plan. A new target for housing is due to be set in during 2016 when the new core strategy local plan is published. It is likely that the demand for housing in the area will continue to be strong.
